BEFORE YOUR TRAINING DAY

General training-day tips to help you prepare for your class.

A little preparation can make your training day more comfortable and help you focus on learning.

Specific requirements vary by class, range, and training location, so always review your class description and registration information for anything you need to bring or know before you arrive.

01

CHECK YOUR CLASS DETAILS

Before training day, confirm your:

  • Date, time, and location

  • Arrival or check-in instructions

  • Required equipment

  • Firearm and ammunition requirements, if applicable

  • Holster or belt requirements, if applicable

  • Waivers, forms, or other class-specific instructions

Class-specific instructions always take priority over the general information on this page.

02

DRESS FOR THE RANGE

For firearm and range training, choose clothing that allows you to move comfortably and helps protect you from hot brass, weather, and the range environment.

We recommend:

  • Comfortable pants or shorts

  • Closed-toe shoes

  • A crew-neck or higher-neckline shirt

  • Clothing appropriate for the weather

  • A sturdy belt when required for holster training

  • A brimmed hat when appropriate

Avoid flip-flops, sandals, very low-cut tops, or clothing that may interfere with safe firearm handling.

03

EYE & EAR PROTECTION

For live-fire training, proper eye and hearing protection are required.

Check your class information to see whether equipment is provided or whether you should bring your own.

04

HYDRATION & COMFORT

Florida training days can get hot, especially outdoors.

Bring plenty of water and consider:

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug spray

  • A hat

  • A rain jacket

  • Snacks for longer training days

  • A change of clothes, shoes, or socks for outdoor classes

05

FIREARMS, AMMUNITION & EQUIPMENT

Bring only the firearms, ammunition, holsters, magazines, and other equipment listed for your specific class.

Don’t own a firearm yet? That’s okay. Some training can be completed before purchasing your own firearm, and we can help you understand your options before you invest in equipment that may not be right for you.

If you are unsure what you need, contact us before buying something specifically for a class.

06

COME READY TO LEARN

You are not expected to already know what you came to learn.

Ask questions, speak up if something is unclear or uncomfortable, and let your instructor know if you need additional explanation or assistance.

Safe training is always the priority.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

If you’re not sure what to bring or whether you have the right equipment for your class, reach out before training day.
